Mika Zibanejad is a Swedish professional ice hockey centreman, playing for and serving as an alternate captain of the New York Rangers of the National Hockey League (NHL). He was selected sixth overall in the 2011 NHL Entry Draft by the Ottawa Senators and signed a professional contract with Ottawa in July 2011.

It didn’t take long for Zibanejad to establish himself as a star youth player in Sweden. Nonetheless, his father has always made sure that learning about everything around him was front and center in his development.
“Education is very important, but education is not just going to school, there are other things, too,” said Mehrdad, his dad.
By proving himself in the Swedish Elite League, matching up against players much older than him, Zibanejad surged in late-season rankings. In some circles, there was a surprise that the Senators chose him ahead of Sean Couturier, also a center.
Zibanejad is also a DJ and music producer and has released 3 songs: Forever in 2017, Can’t Go Back Home in 2018, and Nobody featuring Hot Shade in 2019. He has spun in many clubs in New York City such as Marquee and Lavo and has opened up for fellow Swedes Axwell & Ingrosso.
