This particular chip is manufactured by the Mexican company Paqui and is renowned as the world’s spiciest chip. Unfortunately, Harris experienced a severe decline in his health after partaking in this challenge.

He began to experience intense stomach pain, prompting his concerned parents to pick him up from school.

Heartbreakingly, despite the best efforts of medical professionals, Harris was pronounced deceased.

Reason Behind Harris’s Death

On September 1, 2023, the day initially began as any other for Harris as he headed off to Doherty Memorial High School, where he was enrolled as a tenth-grade student. Little did anyone know that this ordinary day would take a tragic turn. While at school, Harris reportedly indulged in Paqui Chips, renowned as the world’s spiciest snack.

It’s important to note that the manufacturer of these chips explicitly states that they are intended for adults and should not be consumed by children. Regrettably, Harris disregarded this warning and decided to give it a try.

Upon receiving an unexpected call from the school, Harris’s mother, Lois Lama Wolobah, was informed that her son had taken on the “One Chip Challenge” and was experiencing severe stomach discomfort. Concerned for his well-being, they promptly brought him back home, hoping he would recover.

However, despite initial signs of improvement, Harris’s health took a grave turn as the day unfolded. At around 4:30 p.m., just before he was scheduled to leave for basketball tryouts, his condition deteriorated dramatically. He lost consciousness, prompting an urgent rush to the hospital.

Tragically, despite the tireless efforts of medical professionals, Harris was pronounced deceased. Harris’s untimely passing is the first reported fatality associated with consuming these chips, although it is worth noting that several other children have required medical attention after trying them.

In fact, in October 2022, a school district in Lafayette, Louisiana, banned these chips from all campuses after multiple students experienced health issues. In response to this heartbreaking situation, one of Harris’s cousins has initiated a GoFundMe campaign to support the grieving family.

The goal is to raise $30,000, and to date, the outpouring of support from people has surpassed $22,000. This illustrates the compassion and solidarity of the community in coming together to assist during this difficult time.
