Alongside her sister, she was raised in Leigh-on-Sea, Essex.
She made her first theatrical film appearance as a Concert Goer in the 2006 romantic comedy-drama film, Just My Luck, starring Lindsay Lohan, Chris Pine, Faizon Love, Missi Pyle, and McFly. However, her role went uncredited.
Hannah Tointon made her credited theatrical film debut by playing the role of Casey, a rebellious teenage girl, in the 2008 British horror thriller film, The Children, in which she co-starred alongside Eva Birthistle and Stephen Campbell Moore.
