Dramatic footage has emerged of a terrifying, death defying pile-up when a B-double truck slammed through 16 cars on a Melbourne freeway.
The dashcam footage shows the truck crossing four lanes, hitting multiple vehicles on the Monash Fwy at Glen Waverley about 7.16pm on Monday.
Rebecca Safi who was in one of the cars when the truck veered in front of her, causing her to slam on her brakes, said “cars were going everywhere”.
“I looked to my right and he was just going like he wasn’t slowing down,” she told 7News.
“I think I have watched that video 100 times. It just shocks me how did I get so lucky?
“It’s unbelievable how people are walking away from that.”
The Monash Freeway was closed inbound between Blackburn Rd and Forster Rd for several hours as 11 cars were towed from the scene.
The truck driver was taken to hospital with serious injuries while 11 other people were also taken to hospital with minor injuries.
Drug and alcohol testing of the driver came back negative.
