Daphne & Celeste make a comeback with new song 'BB'

Cast your mind back to 1999 when bubblegum pop duo Daphne & Celeste burst onto the music scene with their annoyingly infectious hit Ooh Stick You. The girls followed up the track with the tongue-in-cheek anthem U.G.L.Y and a cover of Alice Coopers Schools Out before releasing their debut albumWe Didnt Say That.

Cast your mind back to 1999 when bubblegum pop duo Daphne & Celeste burst onto the music scene with their annoyingly infectious hit ‘Ooh Stick You’. The girls followed up the track with the tongue-in-cheek anthem ‘U.G.L.Y’ and a cover of Alice Cooper’s ‘School’s Out’ before releasing their debut album We Didn’t Say That.

Whilst Daphne & Celeste enjoyed a little success, the girls and their catchy bops soon disappeared from our radar. Almost 15 years later, they made a small comeback in 2015 with the release of the Max Tundra produced ‘You And I Alone’. However, Daphne & Celeste are officially back to put some spark into 2018 with a brand new song and album.

Daphne & Celeste dropped a new single today called ‘BB’, which is taken from their forthcoming album Daphne & Celeste Save The World. The album, which is due for release on March 30, sees the girls team up with Max Tundra once more. He is responsible for writing and producing the 13-track offering.

It’s clear to see that D&C are on a mission to inject some fun back into the world, and new track ‘BB’ aims to free us from the mundane music they feel we’ve been subjected to over the years. Speaking about the track, Max said: “‘BB’ stands for Basic Busker, any one of countless identikit instigators of mundane melodies that have brought the mood down in recent years. Pop music should lift the spirits – so why are the airwaves full of these mundane strummers?”.

Listen to ‘BB’ below.

Daphne & Celeste Save The World is available to pre-order now, with various merchandise packages on offer. Whilst lots of artists tend to sing about heartache and personal issues, we can expect D&C to be as random as ever with subjects as varied as time travel, succulents, pipelines under the ocean, cabins in the wood, and different regions of the brain appearing on the album.

The tracklist is as follows:

  • Save The World
  • Sunny Day
  • BB
  • Alto
  • 16 Stars
  • Paint Can
  • You and I Alone
  • Alarms
  • Taking Notes
  • Golden Doldrum
  • Song To A Succulent
  • Whatever Happened To Yazz?
  • Kandy Korn
  • To celebrate their comeback, Daphne & Celeste will also play two shows in London at the end of March. They will be heading to Boston Tea Room on March 27 before playing G.A.Y @ Heaven on March 31.
