Charlie Parker, Sr. transitioned to heaven peacefully on October 2, 2023. He leaves to cherish his memory his beloved wife of 53 years Alice, three daughters Sandra Jean Parker, Alfreda Quick and Charlene Morring (Brent Morring) and one son, Charlie Parker, Jr.

Charlie was born in Southampton County Virginia to the late Benjamin Parker & Hattie Sykes Parker. Charlie was always a hard worker and during his time on earth he proudly served in the Armed Forces. Charlie worked 36 ½ years as a government civilian worker. He then began a third career with the City of Norfolk as a traffic engineer and he ultimately retired a second time. In his spare time, Charlie was fondly known as the “air conditioning man.” A licensed HVAC technician, he serviced families in the Hampton Roads and beyond for many years and enjoying his craft.

When he was not working, Charlie enjoyed spending his time in church and with his family. He was a member of Mount Hermon Baptist Church for 53 years and he served in the Trustee Ministry for 25 of those years. He also loved to travel to visit and spend time with his family. He also loved to “tinker” in his garage and take care of his home.

He was predeceased by his siblings, Carrie Lee Jones, Larrina Parker Jenkins, Benjamin Samuel Parker, Hester Melinda Parker and Johnnie Lou Jenkins and a special niece that he considered a sister, Christine Jones Myrick.

Charlie will be dearly remembered by a close family friend, his adopted daughter Kimberly Powell, a host of loving grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, in-laws, other relatives and friends.
